The Legacy

Title:  The Legacy
Original Title:  The Legacy
Saga: The Legacy #1
Author: Melissa Delport
Publisher: Tracey McDonald Publishers
Genre: Fiction/Speculative Fiction
Release Date: July/2013

Summary:
One man obsessed with power.
One woman prepared to sacrifice everything to stop him.
One war that changed the world.

“World War Three lasted twelve days. Twelve days was all it took for mankind to devastate the planet and almost eradicate the human race. No victor emerged from the ashes and billions lost their lives.

We survivors lived through the bleakest of winters. A primal existence became the new order, and the little that remained of our humanity hung in the balance. Then one man stood up and changed the world. I believed, as did everyone else, that he was the hero of our time, the man who had saved us from our own demise.

His name is Eric Dane and he is the President of the New United States of America.

He is also my husband, and my greatest enemy.

I grew up oblivious to the truth, until my father found me when I was nineteen years old. He told me about the many horrifying facts that our new leader kept hidden from us. And he told me that beyond the borders the Resistance grew and fought for freedom from the oppression that Eric Dane had imposed on us.

My name is Rebecca Davis.
I am twenty-six years old, and in me the Resistance has found the ultimate weapon.”

A narrative of good and evil, love and passion, right and wrong – and at the centre of the story a strong woman who is prepared to sacrifice everything for the cause she believes in.

The Legacy is an action-packed, adrenalin-inducing thrill ride which will leave you riveted long after you have turned the last page.

My Opinion:

At the beginning It was hard to read it. I had many things to do and the first chapters were not catchy. Not for them being boring but because they were SO SLOW.
But after some time reading, all the way around.
The story started being more exciting at every second. Just like the Introduction says, it has this adrenaline flowing and it just keep going up.

Becca is this woman who has deep feelings and a hard working mind. A strong character, but we can see some fragility on her as well. She kind of represents this duality in all human beings. Love and Hate. Good and Evil. She is a completely variety of emotions all mixed together.
She has Eric's heart and that makes her the strongest weapon the resistance have against Eric Dane.

Eric Dane. what can possibly be said about him? I really enjoyed his charming evilness. Its a character who is not going to give up so easily. His mind is a puzzle I was avid to resolve. His strong, powerful, that unsolved-mystery and those inner up and downs just make him such an interesting man that I would love to meet and love in real life. And not to mention... how hot he is. (And can be performed by the amazingly hot actor with his name and would be just PERFECT)

Did I mention Reed? PERFECT. If you read the book, I'm sure you will agree with me on how AMAZINGLY CUTELY CHARMING he is.  I would LOVE to have him as boyfriend. Reed and his background story, his funny personality are just characteristics that will make you fall in love. For sure he will be moving you.

The story is so frisky and sexy at the same time. It trapped me completely. When someone tells you: "Don't judge a book by its cover" I have to say... believe in the cover of this book where it says "action packed" its because... it really is.

Melissa was able to make the story come alive in my mind and actually feel and live along with the characters. The action scenes are so vivid that you can actually picture them all. You can feel what the characters are feeling and I'm more than sure that you will be rooting for the characters.

What else can I say other than: I am in the thrill adrenaline rush of the ending of the first book that I'm in the need to read the second one.

If you are 16+, dystopia lover and you enjoy action, cliff-hangers and surprising endings... this is your book.
