Thirty-five girls came to the palace to compete in the Selection. All but six have been sent home. And only one will get to marry Prince Maxon and be crowned princess of Illea. America still isn’t sure where her heart lies. When she’s with Maxon, she’s swept up in their new and breathless romance, and can’t dream of being with anyone else. But whenever she sees Aspen standing guard around the palace, and is overcome with memories of the life they planned to share. With the group narrowed down to the Elite, the other girls are even more determined to win Maxon over—and time is running out for America to decide. Just when America is sure she’s made her choice, a devastating loss makes her question everything again. And while she’s struggling to imagine her future, the violent rebels that are determined to overthrow the monarchy are growing stronger and their plans could destroy her chance at any kind of happy ending.

My Opinion:

When I finished reading the first book I was eager to read the second and totally unable to wait for the third one.

I liked the book. It had more of the background story, but still missing something, the attacks of this groups were just so simple. There was never really a fight on their attacking, like the response of the palace was so weak.

The competition inside The Selection is flowing more, girls start seeing the real competition and they start knowing each other more than in the first book and they realize that they see some people like friends.

The competition starts being more about what the princess should do, like organizing events, behaving like a princess, learning about the situation on Illea and more diplomatic stuff . In this Case, this work had to be made by the girls of The Elite. Planning Balls, Inviting their parents to the Palace and Serve the guests like the Princess.

America made me nuts in the first book but in the second book, I REALLY wanted to kill her. She realizes that she has feelings for Maxon, but she can't let, Aspen and their story, fly away. This situation gets even harder when Aspen starts working as Soldier in the Palace.

She cries a lot and almost made me go on angry tears for not being able to decide, but she shows more her rebel side against the King and his rules.

This book turns the story interesting because we start knowing more about the characters, especially about the past of Maxon and the King. And we have more protagonistic characters like the Queen, that starts hanging out with the girls. And even America's Family has a little more of showing up.

Rated like this because...

    • I learned from some of the characters to fight for our dreams no matter what.
    • We get to know more of the characters..
    • Maxon is a sweetheart and keeps showing it.
    • Fast reading.
    • More Background
    • The story centered in America's decision. (Or indecision)
    • No action like it should.
    • Things still unclear.
    • Still missing something of the story behind Illea.
